CURRENT EVENTS 10-30-15

I received my news article from the Longview News Journal titled “ Easton sets Halloween event Saturday.’

The city of Easton will be celebrating Halloween on Saturday by distributing candy to the kids of the city. The festivities are set at a time of 2:30 p.m at the Easton Community Center, 116 Starling off of FM 2906. They will be providing food such as hot dogs and drinks.

This article affects me, because people in my community may decide to attend this celebration. Though i will not be attending, i will be celebrating halloween this Saturday as well at my house with friends.

This affects people who are attending due to the fact that they may need directions or other information due to this event that is shared through this article.

YEAR BOOK NEWS WRITING

There has been a breach noticed in the district’s computer server. The system had been hacked, leaving several high school teachers with lost files, and complications with the yearbook deadline.

The yearbook class has a 48-page final deadline on February 27th. The district will not allow the students to use the classroom computers. Stephens asked the superintendent to rent computers for his class to finish the yearbook. There will be an emergency meeting held Friday, February 6th to vote on renting computers.

Mac World in southside agreed to let them rent for Macintosh computers with the necessary software for $500 for three weeks. Thats an incredibly discounted price and much cheaper than what our yearbook company would charge us for a missed deadline.

“It would be weird not to get my friends to sign my book before i go off to college” says Reggie White, senior, ” I certainly would not be able to come back for a signing party in the summer or fall”, says White.

For 22 years the school has sponsored a “Yearbook Day” which is a senior signing party, the day the yearbook arrives on campus. All seniors are released from class at noon to pick up the yearbooks and attend the party in the gym. The athletic booster club provides lunch, and the senior teachers organize games. The party this year is scheduled from 5 p.m on may 29th.

I like this one because it reminded me of a time that one of my friends accidentally threw their phone in the trash can, so we had to dig through it to get her phone.
